The structure of apple producers in Poland is a phenomenon on a European and global scale. The country has about 1.3 million farms with apple orchards. This provides an exceptionally wide range of fruit quality and its varieties. The annual apple production, which stands at 127 kg per capita — with low consumption at 12-13 kg — poses great challenges for the industry.
The Polish apple processing market is one of the most dynamic sectors of the country’s food economy. However, despite such great potential, a surprisingly large part of this market remains under the control of foreign capital.
